Luddites Lament
Having been at the helm of Clifton Life for nearly a year now, one of the things that still surprises me is the diverse and ever-growing arts scene. This year alone we’ve hosted one of the biggest exhibitions of new American artists to ever exhibit in the UK and we’ve had Sir Peter Blake jump aboard an art bus in Clifton.
And so, I thought it about time we had a look at some of the galleries that are making the biggest impact across the city in our annual gallery guide (page 14).
It was on my arty adventures that I came across perhaps one of the most captivating exhibitions due to take place this autumn. Hollywood-born former photographer and now digital artist J T Burke is bringing his debut solo show to the Grant Bradley Gallery at the end of August. Turn to page 34 for a taste of his utopian dream-like works.
Elsewhere we’ve been visiting Portishead, taking a look at the changes the town has seen in the past few years (page 47), and going for gold in our editor’s choice (page 44). Well, if the Brits will win so many medals in the European Championships.
And, perhaps most exciting of all, Clifton Life is now online! Click onto www.cliftonlifemag.co.uk and you can virtually leaf through each and every feature. And, as if that wasn’t enough we have also started a weekly newsletter, that will keep you up-to-date with local events and offers. To sign up visit www.cliftonlifemag.co.uk/register. We do spoil you.
